You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.
What is online therapy and how does it work?
Online therapy is similar to in-person therapy in that you will meet one-on-one with your therapist in a private setting, except instead of going to an office you will participate in a video chat. Though this may sound daunting to some, it is actually very easy! Once your session is scheduled I will email you a link. When it’s time for your session you simply open the link on your webcam-enabled device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) and the video conference will begin! We can even practice before your session if needed.
Is my online therapy session still confidential?
Your session is completely confidential. We utilize a secure, HIPPA compliant videoconferencing platform at all times and our session is conducted in a private setting. We suggest that you pick a spot where others cannot overhear you and you are not at risk of being interrupted during our session. If we’re alerted to another person entering your space during our session, we will immediately stop talking to protect your privacy.
Do you provide court and legal services?
Yes we do. We can provide substance abuse assessments as well as written progress updates to probation officers, judges, case managers, and other legal entities.
